Sapele Sapele is heavier than the Honduran mahogany often used in guitars. Honduran is becoming increasingly difficult to find, but Sapele (from Africa) is readily available. Sapele has a striped appearance and is similar in color to other types of mahogany. Sapele is used on our thin body guitars.
